Women-owned · North AmericaWestern Canada, measured in gigawatts.
More than 20 gigawatts of data center capacity is planned across Western Canada, with over $50 billion in investment disclosed so far. A single campus now under construction calls for 3,000 construction workers at peak. Across the pipeline, that means more than 10,000 people on site, led by the project leaders, engineers and operators who deliver every build.

Western Canada is built for this.
Power to build on, from on-site generation to clean hydro.
A cool climate that data centers are engineered for.
Deep pools of trades and engineering talent, and people willing to go where the work is.
The employers who secure talent first will WIN the next five years.
The build, hire by hire.
Hyperscale, colocation or AI campus, every data center hires in phases, and each phase needs a different team. W|E recruit across all five, so one partner carries the program from first site to go-live.

Data centers are different. So are W|E.
Uptime is won or lost on people. Nearly half of data center operators report difficulty finding qualified candidates, according to the Uptime Institute’s 2025 global survey. In Western Canada, few people have led a hyperscale build from design to go-live, so every search has to reach further.
For the top seats, W|E recruit leaders who have delivered hyperscale and mission-critical programs across North America, and plan the move north from the first day. Across project management, engineering, commissioning and operations, our recruiters know who has delivered what.
We are proud to have successfully identified and placed critical talent for mission-critical sites across North America, from design and commissioning through 24/7 operations.
Every search starts with one discovery call. We interview first, against the credentials and systems the role demands, and you receive 3‑5 qualified candidates. Every submission is a recommendation. Our recruiters average more than 17 years in staffing.

Data center jobs in Western Canada
Who recruits for data center roles in Canada?
West End Workforce is a women-owned recruiting firm, WEConnect International certified, with offices in Calgary and Houston. We recruit across the full build, from development and preconstruction leadership to construction, commissioning and operations teams, for owners and developers across Canada and the United States.
How many jobs will data centers create in Western Canada?
More than 10,000 construction jobs across the projects now planned, plus several hundred permanent operating roles at each large campus. A single campus under construction in Alberta's Industrial Heartland expects more than 3,000 construction workers at peak and about 300 permanent jobs. These are projections from developers and the province, not filled jobs.
How do I get a data center job in Canada?
Data center builds hire experienced project, construction and engineering people across project management, project controls, commissioning and electrical and mechanical roles. If you have delivered large commercial, industrial or mission-critical projects, your experience counts. Send us your resume once and our recruiters will match you to current and upcoming data center searches.
Hiring data center leaders
Why are data center leaders hard to hire in Canada?
Canada's data center build-out is just beginning, so few people here have led a hyperscale project from design to go-live, and many who have are working on US builds. The hardest roles are program and delivery executives with 10 to 15 years on large builds, construction directors who can run a campus, and commissioning leads. In Western Canada we see plenty of applicants but few mid-to-senior people with mission-critical delivery experience.
How long does it take to hire a senior data center leader in Canada?
Plan on two to three months from kickoff to accepted offer. Finding qualified candidates is usually the quick part. Interview rounds, package negotiation and notice periods take most of the time. A clear role definition and fast feedback between rounds shorten it.
How does West End find experienced data center leaders?
Through our team and its networks. Our recruiters average more than 17 years in staffing and have spent over a decade placing leaders on design and infrastructure projects across North America. That work has built deep networks in construction, engineering and mission-critical facilities, and many of our strongest candidates come through referrals and long-standing relationships. We know who has delivered what, and we interview every candidate against the role's requirements before you see them. We never recruit from our clients' own teams.
What should a senior data center offer include?
Senior candidates compare total packages: base, bonus, equity where offered, a sign-on bonus to replace what they forfeit by leaving, vacation and severance. Offers that only raise base salary tend to stall, and slow offers lose candidates to competing projects.
Can we hire US leaders for a Canadian data center project?
Yes, and sometimes the right leader is south of the border. We recruit in both countries. For most roles we start with people already in the region, because relocation adds cost, time and the risk of a late decline. When a cross-border hire is the best option, plan work authorization and relocation from the first day.
When should a data center owner hire each part of the team?
Leadership, project managers and project controls come first, during design and development. The construction workforce ramps up when site work begins. Operations staff are hired in the final stretch before go-live, so they can be trained on the systems they will run. The build, hire by hire, above, shows the roles in each phase.
